Soup and Stations, Fridays during Lent

All are welcome.

Join us for homemade soup (poor man’s supper) at 6:30 PM in the Parish Hall every Friday* during Lent starting on Friday, Feb. 28th, followed by Stations of the Cross in the Church at 7:30 PM.

*Please Note: No soup on Good Friday, April 10 – only Stations of the Cross at 7:30 PM

Fasting is one of the traditional Lenten practices for Catholics. One way to fast is to have a poor man’s meal. Instead of a full dinner, have a simple bowl of meatless soup or stew and some crackers or bread. This way of fasting is a way to express solidarity with the hungry and homeless in our community.

This meal might make you feel a little hungry. Think of how it must feel not to know when or where your next meal is coming. Feel hungry for the Kingdom of God. Feel hungry for peace and justice in our nation. Feel hungry for Easter.

Donations: Participants in the meal are asked to make a donation if able. The proceeds will be given to a local charity.
