Ash Wednesday begins our forty-day period of “spiritual house cleaning” in preparation for the pinnacle event of our church year; Easter Sunday, the celebration of the Lord’s resurrection. We begin the season with Ashes on our foreheads, reminding us of our humanity and the need to reform our lives. Throughout this season we will journey with those who desire initiation into the Catholic Faith all the while re-examining our own baptismal call to live the Christian life. The color purple marks this time of the church year as a penitential time when we are called to fasting, prayer, and almsgiving.
There will be extra confessions after the 12:05 pm Mass on Fridays during Lent, excluding Good Friday.
